Hogwarts Legacy, the Harry Potter RPG, pushed back to 2022

Last year, Warner Bros. Games announced a very ambitious role-playing game in the Harry Potter universe. Hogwarts Legacy was therefore expected in 2021 on consoles and PC ... But this is no longer the case.

We know that postponements are plentiful in the wonderful world of video games. And the 2021 edition is off to a strong start with the announcement just made on Wednesday, January 13. Indeed, Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy, the RPG from Avalanche Software, sees its release date already sliding to next year.

Patience, again and again

It was through a brief laconic statement posted on social networks that the information fell. Hogwarts Legacy is now due in 2022, without further details on the exact release period. Warner is content only to thank the fans of the saga and points out that the game needs to spend more time in development to unlock its full potential.

In Hogwarts Legacy, the player will play a student of the Hogwarts school of witchcraft in the 1800s. Our character is obviously the chosen one capable of unraveling the mystery around an ancient secret that threatens the wizarding world. Lessons, magic duels and exploration will be on the program. See you in 2022 on PS5, Xbox Series X | S, PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

A delay is always disappointing but it is better to release a polished game without major bugs (although this rarely happens) rather than an experience plagued by technical problems. Thus, this additional delay can only be beneficial to Hogwarts Legacy.

However, we are entitled to question ourselves about communication in the video game industry. Many projects are announced far too early before being postponed an sometimes alarming number of times. And what about the titles formalized several years ago and which no longer give any sign of life (The Elder Scrolls VI, Starfield, Bayonetta 3, Metroid Prime 4…).

An announcement later and closer to the real release date would also be less stressful for developers who could stay in their bubble before the launch of the talk time. But let's not forget that investors must also be reassured ...
