GTA V: more than 140 million copies sold and a record year 2020





Why would Rockstar Games be rushing to release a GTA VI when the fifth installment is selling like hot cakes more than seven years after its initial release ?! The last numbers have fallen and they are simply stratospheric!

This week, the publisher Take-Two Interactive provided an update on its financial results for the last fiscal quarter. Once again, it was Rockstar Games that was at the heart of this conference with investors since the games of the star firm continue to smash records. Starting with the insolent success of a GTA V which seems unstoppable.

The heist of the century continues

So in 2020, Grand Theft Auto V had the best sales year of its existence, putting aside the performance achieved in 2013 when it was released. The game now has more than 140 million units sold across the world. Figures that should swell with the arrival of GTA V on PS5 and Xbox Series X | S this fall. As for Red Dead Redemption II, it has recorded 36 million copies sold to date.

Finally, Take-Two spoke about possible remasterings of old opus from the Grand Theft Auto saga. Asked about this by investors, Strauss Zelnick, the CEO. of the company, did not at all oppose such projects, but recalls that it is Rockstar who will have the privilege to announce remasterings if they are well planned.
